Listen To: Christmas at The Ripken's

When Cal Ripken Jr. was a young boy in his Aberdeen , Maryland home he would always have trouble sleeping Christmas Eve. Calvin would make several trips into mom and dad's bedroom throughout the night asking if it was time yet to see what Santa had dropped off. He remembers that it was always still dark out. Finally, mom and dad would give in including the year that Calvin received his favorite Christmas gift, a 3-speed bike! Cal 's life has taken him from Aberdeen to Cooperstown . A few summer's ago Cal and his mom rode in a parade during a special Harford County send off to Cooperstown for his induction into the National Baseball Hall Of Fame.

Cal says a lot of people remember his dad, Cal Sr. as a drill sergeant, except at Christmastime when Cal Ripken Sr. would put his Santa hat on and become a ''jolly skinny Santa'' playing with his antique train set in the basement and enjoying time with his family. Today, it's still Christmas Eve at mom's house in Aberdeen . Now, in the spirit of Cal Sr., Vi puts the Santa hat on to impress all of the Ripken grand children!
