Listen To: The Lazzati Family Christmas Card

The tradition started in 1955 when Jimmy Lazzati and his wife thought it would be a nice idea to take a picture of their immediate family and send it to their extended family and friends for Christmas. This was the first card shot in their home on Loch Raven Boulevard in Baltimore.

  

 

Today there are more than two dozen Lazzati family members in the family photo. Here is the 2006 photo, the last one taken before Jimmy Sr. passed away.

 

  

The tradition continues as the Lazzati family meets every October for Mass at St. Leo's Church in Little Italy, the family photo taken by son Johnny, then a big family meal. There is only one unwritten rule: you have to be married to be in the photo. No fiances and no friends. Below is a look at all of the more than 50 photos saved over the years by Rita Patti. Her favorite is the 2007 photo where Jimmy Sr. was photo shopped in overlooking his family.

   

 

 

Today, the Lazzati family sends about 2000 family Christmas cards out to relatives and friends from Baltimore to Italy .
