Listen To: Pat Sajak's Christmas

Pat Sajak, star of Wheel of Fortune, spends Christmas In Maryland most years. This is because his wife, Leslie, is from the Annapolis area. Pat says ''We're usually here for the holidays so the kids can spend the holidays with their grandparents.'' The rest of the year Pat splits his time between Maryland and California.

Pat almost failed the Christmas In Maryland shopping quiz. When asked what the very first Christmas gift was that he bought for his wife, he sat silent for a few seconds shrugged his shoulders and said ''Either jewelry or a Crock Pot.'' His holiday tip for all the guys agonizing over what to buy their wife or girlfriend, he says ''When all else fails buy her jewelry. Stay away from appliances and cotton robes.'' Pat also says he is told that he is hard to buy for, mainly because he has few hobbies. However, he says he does like watches.

When asked what he gets Wheel of Fortune Hostess and Puzzle Board Turner Vanna White for Christmas, Pat says ''We have a great tradition that we started years ago. We don't get each other a darned thing.'' Sajak says more people should do this. He describes Vanna White as ''a little nuts'' because she has usually completed her Christmas shopping by the end of August and has everything wrapped by the end of September.

Pat says he is a ''one day shopper''. Every year he selects one day, takes a deep breath and does all of his holiday shopping in one day.

Sajak also let us in on a little known fact about Wheel of Fortune. They tape the programs out of order. The December shows, including the holiday shows, are usually recorded as early as October, even before Halloween!
